Winemakers notes
The Navigator is a wine based on four classic Bordeaux varieties: Merlot (58%), Cabernet Sauvignon (26%), Cabernet Franc (11%) and Malbec (5%). Fermentation took place in small batches in temperature controlled tanks using both pumping over and hand plunging four times a day. After 7-14 days post fermentation maceration, the total volume was basket pressed to barrel. Barrel maturation took place in 45% new French and American barriques for 18 months.
Aroma
Ripe, sweet red fruits and plums are dominant in the complex aroma with hints of chocolate, spices and oak.
Palate
Red berries and blackcurrant with silky sweetness are balanced by layers of spices and oak. Firm ripe tannins support the finish of this wine.
Food
Enjoy with red meats or simply on its own.
Cellaring
Drinking from mid 2002, but some cellaring will benefit this wine. Try mid 2003 till 2007
